Share Your Story, Help Change Perceptions .
- Do you have a disability that is obvious to others? Do you know somebody who does?
- How positive (or negative) is the public's perception of your disability in your community?
- Have you received unwelcome comments about your disability while out in public?
- Do you have a story about positive (or negative) things strangers say to you (or the person you know)?
- Do you have a video clip or photo of yourself (if you're the person with the disability) that will positively impact public perception? (if so, please send a link to it)
Please share your stories here. We'll select a few each week and feature them. Together we can work to change general perceptions about people who are blind and otherwise disabled. As a great local bumper sticker states, "When you see a person with a disability, assume competence." This is our goal... to make this a widespread philosophy for as many people as possible.
